About the Norway Rat

Reaching lengths of up to 40 cm with tails nearly 21 cm, these large rats are brown or grey in color. Norway rats will burrow or dig their way into a home. Yards with thick shrubs, uncut grass, and large gardens are particularly attractive to them. The most frequent entry points into homes are poorly fitting vents and crawlspace doors, gaps under the roof or doors, and utility entries.
